OUR PROGRAMS
The Bible encourages Christian Education at an early age when it states, “And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Tim. 3:15) West Gate Christian School believes that true education is built on the foundation of God’s Word; and we are proud to use the Abeka Curriculum to help achieve that goal. From toddlers to teenagers, Abeka provides clearly written textbooks filled with visual interest to help students absorb what they are learning. Workbooks and skill sheets expand and reinforce their understanding of new concepts and skills. Thoughtfully planned reviews, activities, discussion questions, and projects improve higher-level thinking skills and deepen comprehension. All of these tools are used to give our students the Biblical Worldview that will guide them to success in life!
ACCREDITATION
Accreditation of a private Christian school by a state governmental agency is not necessary for a graduate of that school to enroll in a college or university. Registrars of such institutions are interested in the academic merits of individual students, not in the name of their school of graduation. Thus, they evaluate each applicant's academic aptitude through nationally standardized tests.
West Gate Christian School is an active member of the following associations that are designed to recognize the quality of its members' educational programs:

Sunshine State Association
of Christian Schools
Hillsborough County Christian
Educators Association

EARLY LEARNING CENTER
The learning needs of early childhood students in grades Pre-K are different from those of elementary school. Therefore, our youngest students need a place to call their own, which is specifically personalized to their needs. The Early Childhood Learning Center paves the way to a child’s lifelong love of learning. This amazing center for students provides an environment for early childhood learning that allows flexibility and emphasizes Biblical values, exploration, play, and participation.
ELEMENTARY
A strong emphasis is placed on Biblical values and developing a variety of study skills students will need to perform at their best. Academic requirements in the Middle Division are Bible, English, mathematics, history, science, physical education, art, drama, and music. Elementary students also have an opportunity within the school day schedule to participate over musical and drama clubs and may participate in an ample after-school athletic program.
HIGH SCHOOL
WGCS meets, and makes it possible to exceed, the 24-credit standard required by the state of Florida to graduate from high school. The Administration determines what courses are offered each year.
FLORIDA VIRTUAL SCHOOL
In an effort to keep current with educational tools, WGCS is pleased to team up with Florida Virtual Schools (FLVS) to offer a limited number of online classes. FLVS may not be used as a substitute for courses that are already offered. The administration will meet with all Juniors and Seniors to review their class schedules to insure they have the necessary credits required for graduation. FLVS classes must be pre-approved by the administration in order for credits to be accepted.
HONORS, AP
Honors courses add 0.5 to the student’s GPA for the course when a weighted GPA is calculated. AP courses and college dual enrollment courses add 1.0 to the student’s GPA for those courses when a weighted GPA is calculated.
